dreams facts

1. Sleep – 1/3 life.

We spend our one third of our life sleeping. Experts all over the world have been interested in this astounding fact for a long time.

2. Body temperature reduces during sleep.

Body temperature starts to decrease before NREM sleep and keeps decreasing during sleep. To put it another way, body temperature reduction is a reason of falling asleep. Your temperature raises again when you wake up.

3. Rapid heart rate while sleeping.

During REM sleep breathing and heart rate are faster than normal. Blood pressure increases. There is a strong link between arrhythmia and sleep apnea. Heart problems are one of the most common causes of sudden death that occurs during sleep.

4. Sexual arousal during sleep.

REM excites your brain while sleeping, stimulating sexual arousal which increases bloodflow to the penis and clitolis, therefore, causing an erection. Erections are common in children during their infant and toddler years. Many argue that lack of erection while sleeping is a result of organic brain lesion in adults. Absence of erection during sleep in childhood leads to sexual diseases in the future.

5. Most people have dreams when sleeping but can’t remember them.

6. Our thinking is imaginative while we’re sleeping.

We use imaginative thinking during sleep to solve some problems which couldn’t be solved with the help of logical thinking. An example is Mendeleev's periodic table. The outstanding scientist had seen this famous table while sleeping.

7. Sleep keeps your nervous system healthy.

Your dreams can help to find your mental health. Unsolved conflicts and disturbing thoughts expressed through dreams reveal your frustration and tension. That’s why people often claim: “Tomorrow is another day!”

8. Men and women have different kinds of dreams.

Women have different dreams than men. As rule men have more aggressive dreams, while women’s dreams are usually full of sexual issues.

9.You can influence your dreams.

We can control our dreams by influence on our sense organs. Prior to going to bed, mentally ask your mind to work on your imagination as you sleep. Ancient Greeks were interested in this amazing fact as well. Pilgrims believed that God could come to them if they fell asleep in a holy place. They spent all night long in the church with the intention of meeting God in their dreams. Pilgrims believed that God could help them, give some useful advice or cure their diseases. After the action of fasting and sacrifice pilgrims entered the church and laid down on the stone floor covered with leather.
